Ear To Hear (Pt.2 The First and The Last)

Revelation 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive.      There are many sounds to be heard in this walk we call life. But it is only the sound of the voice of Jesus Christ that can give us the power to overcome life. For the bible says that it is in Jesus Christ that we live, move, and have our being. Without the sound of his voice we have no life, no motion and no purpose. Therefore we must discipline our ears to hear him at all times.        To discipline our ears means we have to want to hear Christ's voice above all the other voices that try to distract us in the middle of our tests and trials. When we learn of Jesus by studying the word of God, our spirit is exposed to his voice. You hear him when you read or listen to the word because it is being transferred to your soul.       You hear his voice even more when you think about what you heard. This is because the sound of Christ's

Ear To Hear ( Pt.1 He That Holds )

Revelation 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.      The whole reason for Christ to come to earth was to reconnect God to man. He came to restore right relationship that had been damaged by the actions of satan. The damage was done by the use of sharp words designed to cut in one direction. The words used by satan were designed to cause separation  been God and his creation man. Like in the garden of Eden satan is still using the ears of man to keep man away from God. The devil knows that faith in anything has to come from hearing and believing something heard. He knows that a lie hid inside some truth can be very effective in driving two parties apart.      There is no doubt what you hear effects your actions. How you receive the one who speaks, plays a big role in the effect what is said has on the ones who hear. For example the words the devil spoke to Eve in t

Matthew 11:15 He that has ears to hear, let him hear.      The power to perceive sound is an amazing thing. Do you hear that? Wherever you are right now your ears are detecting sound. It could be many sounds or just one. God has given us the ability to hear many different sounds at one time. But he has also given us the ability to focus our ears to hear one particular sound out of many different sounds. For example, when a child is in a large group of unfamiliar people the child hears many voices. But it is the voice of his parent that is recognizable above all the other voices. The sound of the parent's voice can never be forgotten. Not only do you hear the sound, you also feel the sound of a parent's voice.       When a sound is truly heard it brings out some kind of response from the hearer. Jesus used the ability to choose sound to teach his disciples how to respond to the word of God. Because we have the same ability to choose sound the Holy Spirit uses it to teach us

Teach us to Pray

Luke 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.        God has promised us that if we learn of Jesus we will find rest for our soul. His disciples are examples of men who chose to learn of him. They followed and watched him for three and a half years. They saw him do many miraculous things. They asked him many questions. Why? Because one of his gifts was the gift of teaching. He loved to teach. He is still teaching us today.       One of his disciples asked him to teach them to pray. Why? Because he heard and saw Jesus pray. But that was not his motivation. Some of the men that followed Jesus followed John the Baptist first. John taught his disciples to pray. Why? Because John's purpose was to prepare the way for Christ. He was to help set an atmosphere of prayer that would help people turn in the direction of the Lord.        You must unde
