The Way,The Truth And The Life
Matthew 16:15-16
He said unto them, But whom say you that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Simon Peter was one of the disciples of Jesus Christ. But before he became a disciple of Jesus he was many things. He was a businessman. He was a faithful husband. He was a brother. He was a son. He was a friend. He was very busy, but his life did not have any meaning. All he had was an existence. All of his responsibilities did not fill the empty place inside his heart. He believed in God, but knew there was more to God. What was missing inside Peter was the Way, the Truth and the Life.
When Peter first saw Jesus he knew something about this man was different. We all who have come to Jesus have a similar story. We were busy involved in an existence we thought was life. We all had something missing inside our hearts. But when we really saw Jesus for the first time we knew he was different and he was different in a good way. What is this difference? The difference is that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.
When you are first introduced to him you don't see it. But like Peter, there is a time in your relationship with Jesus that the Father reveals to you that Jesus really is the Christ. He really is the one who came to take away the sin of the world. Anyone who believes in him is free from the penalties of sin and has entered into eternal life. Like Peter, when we receive the revelation of Jesus Christ into our existence everything changes. For us, The Way, the Truth and the Life becomes real. The empty place in our heart is now filled with God.
The Holy Spirit begins to work with us on a daily basis to bring meaning to a God filled heart that is full of God life. He starts by teaching us in the Way that is Christ. The Way that is Christ is the Way of the Father that is active in the life. The Father and Jesus Christ are one. They have the same Way. When you are taught in the Way you learn of them both. The Holy Spirit also reveals the Truth. He reveals all truth as it pertains to our relationship with God and others. He always deal with our reactions and behaviors first! We walk in the Way by learning of The Father and Jesus Christ. We grow in our relationship with them when we receive and act on the Truth given to us by the Holy Spirit.
When we walk in the Way and receive the Truth out of our love for God, then we are living the Life. We are then living in eternal Life. Sounds easy. The only problem is our flesh. The flesh always gets in the way of Spirit flow. For example when Peter received from the Father that Jesus was the Christ, he got the revelation by the Spirit of God. Then when Jesus told them the Truth about how he must die and rise again, Peter would not receive it because his flesh did not want to be separated from Jesus. Jesus had to rebuke Peter's flesh openly in front of the rest of the disciples. Flesh was trying to undo Spirit.
Always know that the Spirit is always first. The flesh only responds to what the Spirit is doing. So children of God, if you don't feel like obeying the word of the Lord today check your flesh. It is trying to short circuit the God response to an active word moving inside you. Perhaps today is your day for God to reveal to you that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God for real. So keep walking in the WAY, receiving the Truth and living the Life in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord! Amen and amen!

The Way, The Truth and The Life can only take you in one direction. No matter what, His direction is always up!
