A Stranger In The Earth

Psalm 119:19

 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.

     

      The word stranger refers to a person who does not know or is not known in, a particular place or community. The bible says that before God formed us in the belly of our mother he already knew us. How long did God know us? Before the foundations of the earth was laid. This means that before the earth was, we were in God. This also means that before God formed Adam out of the dust of the earth we were in God. God knew us all before he breathed into the form that he created out of the dust of the earth and Adam became a living soul. God who is Spirit put his Spirit into the earth and man came to life in the earth. The earth was the place God chose to assign man. It was his Spirit in man ( earth ) living and moving on the earth.

     When man sinned he became separated from God. The ways of God were now strange and unfamiliar to man. The earth that God had created just for man had now become very foreign to man. Man was created by God to have dominion over the earth. You can not have true dominion over something you are not completely familiar with. Man was moving in a place that was now  unfamiliar to him. He had to learn how to move in the earth in order to survive in the earth. Most of all he had to learn how to reconnect to God in order to learn how he was supposed to operate in the earth. 

     The problem man had and still has is that man's physical body is made of earth. His flesh is programmed to flow with nature in the earth. Man's flesh was never supposed to operate without the Spirit of God leading and guiding it. Now because of sin man's flesh was out of control. The problem is that man's flesh or his earth if you will wants to move in the exact opposite direction of God. Sin separates man from God by disconnecting his spirit man from God. Man is spirit, soul and body. Without his spirit connection to God man is operating by his soul and body. His mind, will and emotions are being driven by the physical impulses of his body. There is no Spirit of God in him to take dominion over his soul and body.  In short his body or earth is out of control because man is unfamiliar with it. His body ( earth ) is strange to him.

     The body was created by God for man to physically operate in the earth according to standards of operation set up by God. Without God, man runs through life stumbling in darkness trying to make sense of his life. He wonders who he is and what his purpose is suppose to be in the earth. Even if he achieves a level of success according to the world standards without God there is a big whole in his soul that the things in the earth cannot fill. This is because that place has been reserved for God and nothing other than him can fit into that place.

     The place where man is meant to be successful and fulfilled is the kingdom of God. Earth is a part of the kingdom of God. It is in our Lord Jesus Christ that we live, move and have our being in his kingdom. It is through Jesus Christ that our reconnect to God is possible. It is through Christ and the Holy Spirit that we learn who God the Father is and how we are to function in the earth according to the word of God. It is amazing to me how everything man creates in this world has a set of instructions that pertain to the proper operation and purpose of that thing. Yet most people won't admit that they were created by God and the bible is God's set of instructions on how man is to function  in the kingdom of God.

     The purpose of man is to bring God maximum glory in his earth. The whole earth is to be filled with the glory of God. This includes man. Man is to be filled with the glory of God. In order for this to happen man must choose to seek God. As man seeks God through his son Jesus Christ he develops relationship with God. The bible says that God rewards them that diligently seeks him with their whole heart. It is impossible to seek God and not learn of his ways. The more you learn and do the will of God the less control your flesh has over your soul.

     God desires that we spend much time with him so that through his word we may learn to live by keeping his word. It is God who opens our eyes to see the wondrous things he has made available to us in his word. In fact it is by his word that we begin to get to know him and develop a true relationship with him.

      My testimony is that I read the bible before I got saved and all it was to me was a collection of stories. It was not until I chose to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior that the Holy Spirit of God made the bible come to life where I began to see for myself how real God really is and that he truly rewards them that seek him. It has truly been him through his word that has helped me through many different types of situations. Each time I obey his word I see him in a different and progressive way. The things that I see in him helps me to direct my flesh and find my way in the earth. Time with him always gives me a sense of purpose and confidence knowing no matter what God is in control. With God in control I am never lost because I am in him just like I was before the foundations of the earth were laid. I am still a stranger in the earth, but now I have a guide to show me the way through the earth day by day. That same guide is also the counselor to my soul who brings rest to my soul when I learn of him.

     If you are reading this blog today and you feel like a stranger in your city, home, job, school, or even your own body it is time to reach out to the one who created you. He is the one who can guide you through this thing called life. After all he is the author and finisher of all our life stories. Therefore he can if you are willing walk with you every step of the way to the end and new beginning of your story. Trust him to fill your earth to the point it is no longer strange flesh just existing in the world. Let him transform you into the temple of the living God that is filled with his glory. May the glory of the living God fill your spirit, soul and body this day and forever more in the name of Jesus let it be so!

Without Jesus Christ we are blind strangers in the earth. In Jesus Christ our eyes are open to see God's glory fill the earth. Do you see what I see?
