The Snake Effect

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea has God said, you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

I rarely comment on the devil. I believe time is short and the end of time is very very close at hand. Therefore I believe our time should be spent learning of the Lord Jesus Christ and spreading his gospel.
But today I will make an exception. I do this because it is important to know how our enemy operates. God's word makes it clear that the devil is our enemy. God also makes it clear that the devil used the serpent as a vessel to pervert God's creation. Why? Because the serpent was created to be subtle.
This means the serpent was created by God to be the most difficult creature to analyze or describe. This is why the devil chose this subtle creature to approach the woman in the garden of Eden. The nature of the snake is to approach you in a non-aggressive manner. His approach is patient and slow so not to alarm you. He wants to draw near to you in such a way that you don't even see him coming. He wants to be invisible!
I know in the natural there are many different kinds of snakes. When I think snake, I think of a Python. In order for a Python to be effective it has to be close to it's victim. It tricks victims into thinking it is harmless. Once close, it strikes with lightning speed. It wraps itself around it's victim and squeezes the life out of them. Then he swallows them whole.
The devil wants to use the same tactics on all the people of the Earth. This tactic I call the Snake Effect. It is used to kill, steal and destroy all human life. The devil like the snake, sneaks up at a time in your life when your guard is down.
First he kills your will to resist by distracting you with the cares of life. When you are distracted you let your guard down and he gets closer. Next you find yourself wrapped in the sin you chose to embrace. Your freedom has been stolen and you are now the prisoner of sin. The devil uses sin to squeeze you tighter and tighter until you can't breathe. Sin and the devil  then swallows you whole so that you are totally destroyed. The Snake Effect  is now complete.
The key to overcoming the Snake Effect is to put your complete trust in the one who created the snake. God knows all there is to know about anything he has created. God knows that the weak point on a snake is it's head. Crush the head and the snake is done. Well satan is a created being and God knows all his weak spots. Likewise God knows to defeat the devil you have to resist him in all areas of your life. When you resist him you get inside his head. Your guard is up and he can't deal with you in this state. It frustrates him to the point he will have to withdraw from you.
Praise, worship, and the word of God combined with faith will always confound the devil. He is defeated. His only hope is to get you to think he does not exist. He also wants you to think God is not real. If you don't believe in God or the devil than your guard is down. You put your trust in yourself and leave yourself open to devil's lies. His lies in turn leaves you open to sin and the wage of sin is death.
The Snake Effect has no effect on God. If you are in Christ and remain so, then the Snake Effect can have no effect on you. Why? Jesus Christ is the only one who successfully smashed satan's head! When we follow the leading of Jesus Christ, we can to. Believe in God, resist the devil and keep moving forward in the name of Jesus Christ! Amen and Amen!
