The Door
John 10:9
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
A door is a movable barrier at the entrance to something. It's purpose is to keep something in or to keep something out. It allows someone in or someone out. A good door can be locked or unlocked to deny or grant access through the door.
Now imagine a house filled with treasure. The treasure is made up of many different kinds of gifts. They have been stored or hidden in the house until the day they are to be given. Now think about the world we live in. It is like an untamed jungle with confusion and disorder everywhere as the normal standard mode of operation. How long would the gifts remain in the house if the house did not have a secure door? How about no door at all. The entrance to the house is completely open! We all know the house would be completely empty in a very short period of time.
This is what we were like before our life in Christ. We were like a house full of treasure with no door to protect the entrance. Anyone could have access to any place and anything within the house. They could come and go as they pleased. What makes matters worse is that we did not even know we were suppose to have our entrance covered. With no door, the enemy had control over our house with no resistance. We were lost with no idea of the condition of the house.
A door must be put at the entrance of the house. The purpose of the door would be to stop the cotinual trespass inside the house. Not just any door would work, this door would have to have the power to transform the entire house. It would also need the ability to protect the entire house. The very soul of anyone passing through this door would be changed for the better forever.
Is there such a door? Yes! This door has been sent by God. It is a one of a kind door. God declared the door wise. He also said it was a strong door. He called it an eternal door. It is also a peaceful door. But most of all it is the only official holy door that transforms the house into kingdom territory.
The name on the door is Jesus Christ. He has declared that he is the one and only true official door through which men can be saved. The name of Jesus Christ is above every name in heaven, earth and under the earth. If you have chosen him to be the door on the entrance of your house, you have become a spiritual house in the kingdom of God.
This new spiritual house is now made up of lively stones. Now it can move and shift in the earth as the Holy Spirit directs. Now the first thing the enemy will see on the door of your spiritual house is the name Jesus Christ. The enemy's access to your place has just been denied! He is met with resistance. Because he is met with resistance from the name of Jesus on the door of your spiritual house he will turn and flee. The name of Jesus spoken from your mouth disrupts satan's plans for your life.
This is the promise of Father God. Jesus is the door, if you enter by trusting and learning of him you will be saved. He will bring rest to your soul by defining who you are in the kingdom of God. You will have true relationship with him, the Father and the Holy Spirit. You will have the power as their ambassador to go in and out of places in the earth. But it always begins with the transformation of the inside of you to be more like Christ.
God is at work in all his children, but know that all his work begins with the installation of Jesus Christ as the spiritual door on your earthen vessel. Through him you can resist the heat of this world. Let him be the door that protects your soul. Let all your thoughts pass through the mind of Christ. Let the same mind that is in Christ be in you. This means that God himself will protect your spiritual house and the gifts inside. HE IS THE DOOR! Amen and amen!
