Blessed!

Psalm 119:1-2
Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

The word blessed is a fascinating word. It seems so simple and yet can imply so much. The basic meaning of the word is to be happy, fully satisfied or contented. Of these three, fully satisfied seems to convey the meaning of the word the best as it applies to our life in Christ. I say this because the word blessed is used to describe a persons state of bliss. It describes how someone feels. It means happy and not sad. It also implies that the state of happiness must have been orchestrated by God.
In most cases when we please God our flesh is unhappy. Why? Our flesh wants to do the opposite of what God has said. Therefore most of the time when we please God the blessing is first in our soul. It may never be felt in our flesh, yet we have been blessed none the less.
Most people say they have been blessed when something they consider to be good has happen to bring favor to their situations. The situation has changed in their favor. But the bible says that Jesus taught his disciples another way concerning how to be truly blessed. He gave them nine states of being that would cause them to have a fruitful right relationship with God. He taught that a person is truly blessed when they are in right relationship with God. In short a person is  truly fully satisfied when they are in right relationship with God through Jesus Christ. What are these nine states? They are:

1. Fully satisfied are the poor in spirit.

2. Fully satisfied are they that morn.

3. Fully satisfied are the meek.

4. Fully satisfied are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness.

5. Fully satisfied are the merciful.

6. Fully satisfied are the pure in heart.

7. Fully satisfied are the peacemakers.

8. Fully satisfied are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake.

9. Fully satisfied are you when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Jesus taught that we should rejoice when we find ourselves in these types of situations. Why? Because all of these situations will bring us closer to God if we respond to them in the way Jesus taught. Jesus also said that great is the reward in heaven for those who can respond in the way he taught. So children of God, consider the people of God that came before us. They found themselves in many different situations. Some good and some bad. Yet the ones who overcame the situations were the ones who put their relationship with God first. This is the true meaning of being blessed. Through Jesus Christ we have been made holy unto God. We flow in a new grace by the Holy Spirit that enables us to respond like Christ. So be blessed, fully satisfied moving forward in Christ Jesus. Amen and amen!
