A Higher Love
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The world is crying out for love. All mankind is longing for someone to love and to be loved by someone. Someone who will honor and respect them for who they are. This is how God formed us with his loving hand. To be loved and respected because of who he made us to be and not what we choose to be.
We live in a fear driven world. The fear of not having love or being able to love is very, very real. But the question that must be asked is if something appears to be truly real, does that make it true ? True love can only come from the creator of love. It can not be redefined by God's creation. This world in it's fallen state could never come up with the true meaning of love on it's own. It could never measure up to the standard of true love without help from God the creator of love.
The bible says that God's ways and thoughts are high above our ways and thoughts. It is fact that his love is a higher love. The bible also says that God is love! Wait! This right here is a selah moment! Selah means to pause and think. Let's pause and think about this for a moment. God's ways are high above ours. He is love. Therefore it stands to reason that his way of love is not only higher, but it is the highest form of love that exists.
God is the higher love that the world is searching to find! How do we know? We know because a true higher love begins with a decision to give. God's love is based on a pure unselfish motivation. It is not based on what we can do for him. It is also not based on how we feel about him in our fallen state before Christ saved us. The fact is he knows we need help! True love meets you were you are and helps you get to a better place. It dose not take you further down, it gives you what you need to help bring you up to a higher place.
The higher love God chose to give us came in the form of his Son Jesus Christ. He chose to come from heaven and give himself for a lost and dying world. We who were not thinking of God at all was lost in our own selfishness. We did not even know we were in trouble. Trouble we could not ever escape, because we were the source of the trouble! We could never rid ourselves of the sin that was a part of our nature. Only our creator could save us. Thank you Jesus! You not only helped us out, you helped us up!
The higher love of God was in the blood of Christ that was given to pay for all our sin. So we must stop looking for love in all the wrong places. The higher love we seek is made known in Jesus the Christ. Humble yourself and learn of him. He will bring rest to your soul. His good news is the beginning of a higher love. Amen and Amen!
