Dedicate A House For My Name

 2 Chronicles 7:16

     For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there forever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

     Praise the name of the Lord sons and daughters of the most high God! Today is a very special day. Today is the day that we dedicate the temple of God. The word dedicate means to devote time, effort, or self to a particular task or purpose. The key here is that time, effort and self has been focused for a purpose. Our purpose today is to dedicate a house for the name of the Lord.

     The bible says that king David purposed in his heart to build a house for the name of the Lord God of Israel. God downloaded to David the plans for the temple. When David saw the plan for the temple the first thing he started to do by the Spirit of God was to gather the materials that would be needed to complete this task. He began to gather all kinds of precious costly materials for the building of the temple. The bible goes into great detail about the kinds of materials and the preparation of them for the building of the temple. There was nothing gathered to the place where God's house was to be built that did not take time, effort and sacrifice of self to position them in the place where God chose to place his name .

    The task of building the temple of God was given to king David's son Solomon. Solomon purposed in his heart to see the temple finished. He took all the materials his father had gathered and by the inspiration of Holy Spirit directed the people to build the house of God. After much time, much effort and much selflessness the house of God was complete. Then king Solomon called all the people together and dedicated the house of God. The bible says that when king Solomon finished his dedication the glory of the Lord filled the temple with the presence of God.

     The glory of God filled the place where he chose to place his name forever. Why? It was because men humbled themselves and purposed in their hearts to relate with God according to his ways. They dedicated their hearts to God long before they built a house for God in the natural earth. The house was not to contain God because there is nothing that can contain him. The purpose of this natural house was to be a type and a shadow God's plan to fill every natural man with his Spirit and glory. 

    When we fast forward to today we can witness God's plan in motion with our own eyes. When we receive Jesus Christ, our spirit, soul and body is now considered by God as his house. He marks it as such for all of heaven and earth to know that his name is now there. His plan is to fill that house with his glory for all heaven and earth to see.

      One key aspect of the temple of God was that this was the place where heaven and earth officially came together in a permanent place in the earth to interact with God. When you become a child of God you become a permanent place for God's presence and glory in the earth. He assigns his name to you through his son Jesus Christ. This is another reason we must go through Jesus to be saved. We must go through Jesus Christ to also become an official son or daughter of the most high God. Through Christ we receive God the Father and his name.

     The bible makes it clear that we children of God are his living temples in the earth. We are his temple and minister in one. When we minister to God there are no barriers between us. He is not in a place far away from us. He is within us and we are within him. Any place where God is or dwells his name is there. God says he is always with those who believe in him. He never leaves or forsakes us.

      If you believe in Jesus Christ and have received him as your Lord then you are a house and temple of God. We pray and dedicate you as such today. We agree with heaven and earth that the Spirit of God is within you and that as you yield yourself to God's Spirit he is filling you with God's  glory day by day until your earth, house, temple be filled with his glory. In Jesus name let it be so. Amen and amen!

      Now declare with your voice that you are the temple of God. With your voice say God here I am! I am your house and temple in the earth. Fill me with your glory, for your glory so that your presence will fill my earth and be a light for those around me in this world of gross darkness. Thank you Lord in Jesus name!  

     May God continue to lead and guide you as you devote yourself, time and effort to him. Let his purpose for you prosper you in him. Never quit. Keep moving in him the one who gives us all the power to move.

When you devote time, effort and self to your relationship with God his glory will fill the temple that is you. Where God's glory is his name is there also. Let his name and glory fill your house this day and forever more.
