Loose Lips

Luke 1:20
And, behold, thou shall be dumb, and not be able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believe not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

This was part of the word of the Lord delivered to his servant Zacharias by the angel of the Lord Gabriel. The word that Gabriel delivered to Zacharias was in response to his prayer concerning a child that he and his wife Elisabeth desired.
They both were old and passed childbearing years. God chose them to be the parents of John the Baptist who was the man God chose to prepare his people to receive Christ. God sent Gabriel to Zacharias with the details of his answered prayer, but the man of God did not fully receive the word from Gabriel. There was some doubt in his response to God.
We must understand that some small doubt on our part does not cancel the plan of God for our life. God's plan for us will still come to pass. We just have to make sure that our doubt does not interfere with what God is doing in the things concerning our life. Even if we doubt what is going on around us, we must say to God thy will be done.
In the case of Zacharias, like it is for us also, the word of the Lord came to him in private. No one heard the conversation he had with the angel of the Lord. Not even the devil could hear what was said to Zacharias. All plans that God has for his kingdom must be protected until the time that God wants the details of the plan to be released.
The angel of the Lord sealed the mouth of Zacharias so that his doubt would not lead to him speaking to the wrong people and causing unnecessary situations that could interfere with the plans of God. God did not want Zacharias's own words of doubt to be formed against Zacharias.
Zacharias did not trust the supernatural word of the angel because of the natural old age of him and his wife. Natural thinking always interferes with movement in the supernatural. Natural thinking always leads to conversations with people who are thinking and speaking in a natural manner. This type of conversation will always lead to a natural conclusion. Natural conclusions lead to natural behavior.
Talking about what you have information about is a natural human behavior. Most people that have some type of unusual information want to tell it to someone. In times of war this type of behavior can cause much damage and may even lose the war if the information is spoken to the wrong people. There is a saying that says "Loose lips sink ships." This means that because of unguarded conversation information about the ship got into the wrong hands. Due to the information about the ship getting out the ship was destroyed by the enemy.
Zacharias loved God but his human nature was in the way of God's plan being fulled through him. To correct this God took away his speech as a sign to him not to tell anyone about what was said to him by the angel of the Lord. His true story is a good example of how God guards our conversation.
The same is true for all those who love and respect God in this life. Our spirit is strong but our flesh is weak. The weakness of our flesh will not allow God to tell us every thing concerning the plans that he has for our life. He does this to keep us safe by not letting the enemy know every detail about how our life is to be walked out. He protects us from ourselves.
This is because of the looseness of our human lips getting in the way of the progression of God's plan for our life. This is another reason why God gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit. He helps us not to share the wrong information with the wrong people. He gives us discernment which gives us the ability to judge people well. We only share information that needs to be shared at the time and with the people that God says it is alright to tell.
In the word of God the bible tells us to allow God to keep our heart and mind. God says this because we will speak about whatever is in our heart. We will say whatever is on our mind if we don't think on him before you speak. Thinking on him more means you are speaking less on natural things. Speaking less and listening more to him means your speech is being guarded.
If you ever wondered why things seem to be so hard at times, it could be because of some of the conversations you have had in times passed. So people of God from this day forward let the same mind that is in Christ Jesus be in you! Let the Holy Spirit of God lead your mind and guard your heart. Let every word that proceeds from your mouth be ran through the filter that is the mind of Christ. Don't let your speech abort your God given purpose and sink your ship.Think  on God before you speak and keep moving forward in the name of Jesus.

Luke 1:11-22
Philippians 4:7

Jesus won the war over our enemy the devil. We must trust in his victory to keep us from speaking natural words that will cause us to believe otherwise. We must also guard what God has said to us concerning his plans for us in the earth. Keep them close to your heart and don't share them with everybody.
